Banks lead drop across the board

Investors chose to cash in on the considerable stock earnings of the previous days, sending prices lower during the second half of yesterday’s session on the bourse. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index declined to 2,338.90 points yesterday, tumbling by 2.90 percent from Wednesday’s closure. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped 3.31 percent to end at 1,198.16 points. All blue chips suffered losses, led by Intralot (down 6.13 percent), Bank of Cyprus (5.76 percent), ATEbank (4.97 percent), Eurobank EFG (4.71 percent), Mytilineos (4.68 percent) and National Bank (4.24 percent). The banking index, in particular, has declined by approximately 8 percent over the last three sessions. Turnover reached 268.2 million euros.
