Sluggish start to week for stocks

Greek stocks began the week sluggishly, dipping 0.46 percent, as small caps outperformed, ending in positive territory. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index ended at 2,390.45 points, showing smaller losses than major European peers that were off more than 2 percent late in the day. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dipped 0.58 percent to end at 1,223.29 points and the mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index eased 0.41 percent. Hellenic Postbank jumped 7.32 percent to 5.28 euros and National Bank ended at 20.49 euros, off 2.34 percent. Betting firm OPAP advanced 2.42 percent to 20.74 euros. The small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index added 0.37 percent. Turnover reached 176 million euros versus 186 million euros in the previous session.
