Athens-Hanoi direct route in the pipeline
Transport Minister Evripidis Stylianidis (seated, second from left) yesterday signed an agreement with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Transport and head of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) Pham Quy Tieu (seated, right), which opened the way for the launch of a direct flight linking Athens with Hanoi. ‘Tourism, economic and commercial ties between the two countries are tightening. The signing of this agreement will help in this direction, providing the opportunity to set up a direct airline link between the two nations,’ said Stylianidis. Ties between the two nations appear to be increasing after Greek President Karolos Papoulias, along with a delegation of Greek businessmen, visited the Southeast Asian country in October last year.
