Stocks rise, trim total June losses
Greek stocks added nearly 2 percent yesterday on blue chip gains, recapturing the 2,200-point mark. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index rose 1.99 percent to 2,209.99 points, racking up overall losses of 5.05 percent for June. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index gained 2.31 percent to 1,124.47 points. Hellenic Postbank outperformed, jumping 8.56 percent to 4.82 euros, while Alpha Bank advanced 4.42 percent to 7.80 euros. Coca-Cola Hellenic rose 5 percent to 14.70 euros. Among the losers were cement maker Titan, which dipped 1.05 percent to 10.90 euros, and OTE telecom, which ended at 10.90 euros, off 1.62 percent. Turnover reached 192.7 million euros versus 155 million euros in the previous session.
