Buying in banks helps trim losses

Late-session buying in banks helped trim losses on the Athens bourse yesterday which ended marginally in the red, weighed down by soft mid-caps. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index eased 0.12 percent to 2,103.67 points after dipping to as low as 2,071 points in mid-session trade. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index ended almost unchanged, slipping 0.01 percent to 1,060.89 points. Banks added 0.22 percent. Hellenic Postbank jumped 3.94 percent to 4.22 euros and Eurobank added 2.67 percent to 7.30 euros. The mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index gave up 0.71 percent. Turnover reached 138.67 million euros versus 201 million in the previous session.
