EasyGroup buys into Sea Star Capital

EasyGroup Holdings, the investment company owned by EasyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou (pictured in file photo), will participate in a sale of shares by Sea Star Capital, the Nicosia-based company said yesterday. EasyGroup will buy 34.6 million shares, or a 5.5 percent stake, in Sea Star Capital for 9 million euros. The participation of EasyGroup, which includes hotel operator EasyHotel, will ‘most certainly contribute to the fulfillment of our strategic plans,’ Sea Star Chairman Akis Cleanthous said in a statement. Sea Star said in June it plans to raise about 15.5 million euros in a sale of new shares to one or more strategic or institutional investors to facilitate alliances or acquisitions.
