Stocks see most gains wiped out

Stocks saw temporary gains get wiped out by the end of the session yesterday with most winding up on the losing side. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index dropped to 2,270.94 points yesterday, falling marginally by 0.01 percent from Tuesday’s close, although over the course of the day it had posted gains of up to 0.90 percent. The mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index did increase, however, by 0.48 percent. Coca-Cola HBC outperformed blue chips with a rise of 2.09 percent, followed by OPAP, which gained 1.58 percent. Heading southward were the stocks of Marfin Popular Bank (down 2.24 percent), Bank of Cyprus (2.20 percent) and Titan cement (2 percent). Turnover barely reached 130 million euros, against 185.8 million euros on Tuesday.
