Small-caps steal the bourse show

The Greek bourse continued its upward course for a third consecutive session yesterday, with investors’ interest shifting toward small-caps for a change. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index rose to 2,344.04 points yesterday, gaining 0.55 percent from last Friday’s close. The blue chip FTSE ATHEX 20 index climbed 0.83 percent to end at 1,210.55 points. The small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 index expanded by 1.38 percent. The blue chips with the best performance were Titan cement (up 4.80 percent), Hellenic Postbank (4.05 percent), Piraeus Bank (3.03 percent) and Viohalco (2.98 percent), while Public Power Corporation (down 2.10 percent) and Intralot (1.35 percent) were on the losing side. Turnover reached 137 million euros.
