Thessaloniki Fair prepares for relocation

The end of an era is nearing for the traditional home base of the Thessaloniki International Fair in the northern port city’s center, after yesterday’s decision by the Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace. The special committee on the issue has chosen two candidate locations where the fair can move as early as possible. The first location is to the west of the city at Sindos and the second is to the north, between the municipalities of Langadas and Mygdonia. The decision to relocate the fair outside the city had been announced by Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis last year. At the opening of this year’s fair, on September 5, Karamanlis is likely to announce the new premises of the country’s biggest yearly trade event.
