Change in toll system on road to Corinth

The toll charge on the Athens to Corinth national road is changing as of today; instead of a single payment each way at the Elefsina or Corinth tollbooths (pictured here), drivers will need to pay a smaller amount at both posts. As a result, car drivers will not pay 2.80 euros anymore at either post but 1.20 euros at each of the two tollgates on the national highway, operator Olympia Odos announced. There will also be a new tollgate operating at the Megara junction for those accessing the national road. The consortium added that the major works planned for the Corinth-Patra part of the national highway have been postponed until September, when traffic will not be as heavy as it is this month. Traffic will then be restricted to one lane in each direction.
