National and OTE boost index

Greek stocks ended the month on a high yesterday, as most registered fresh gains after Thursday’s significant growth. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index expanded to 2,362.35 points, posting a 0.39 percent rise over Thursday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index increased by 0.38 percent to end up at 1,216.12 points. OTE telecom led blue chips with a rise of 3.38 percent, followed by National Bank (up 3.28 percent) and Hellenic Postbank (2.98 percent). Worst off were the stocks of Titan cement (down 3.78 percent) and Marfin Investment Group (3.61 percent). Turnover came to 849.1 million euros, as the package of 24,507,519 OTE telecom shares sold to Deutsche Telekom went through the market at the prearranged price of 27.50 euros per share. The transaction amounted to 673.96 million euros.
