Athens bourse gains 1 percent

Gains on European bourses helped lift Greek stocks just over 1 percent yesterday as National Bank and Public Power Corporation (PPC) outperformed. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index gained 1.02 percent to 2,333.29 points, trimming losses in the last week to 1.28 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index gained 1.15 percent to 1,216.68 points. National Bank gained 2.15 percent to 20.94 euros and PPC advanced 3.54 percent to 15.50 euros. On the downside, betting company OPAP slipped 1.50 percent to 16.41 euros and OTE telecom inched 0.10 percent lower to 10.19 euros. Turnover reached 100.8 million euros versus 108.3 million in the previous session.
