Selective buying lifts stocks 2 pct

Greek stocks jumped more than 2 percent yesterday on selective blue chip buying with investors cheered by gains on European bourses. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index added 2.09 percent to 2,399.40 points, failing to climb above the 2,400-point resistance level. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index gained 2.54 percent to 1,260.54 points. National Bank advanced 3.07 percent to 21.84 euros and Bank of Cyprus rose 3.22 percent to 4.81 euros. OTE telecom added 4.39 percent to 10.47 euros and cement company Titan also outperformed, rising 7.03 percent to 21.93 euros. Turnover reached 188 million euros versus 109.5 million in the previous session.
