Stocks rise in volatile trade

The Athens bourse advanced yesterday after a day of volatile trading, as banks charged ahead more than 3 percent. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index reversed mid-session losses of up to 1 percent to end 1.75 percent higher, at 2,509.52 points. Banks jumped 3.31 percent. National Bank rose 3.80 percent to 22.68 euros after Deutsche Bank raised its price target on the Greek lender to 27.50 euros from 24.50 euros. Eurobank and Alpha Bank also performed strongly, advancing 4.09 percent and 4.07 percent, respectively. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index moved ahead 2.37 percent to 1,324.88 points. Turnover reached 194.5 million euros versus 329 million in the previous session.
