Stocks rise on selective buying

Greek stocks advanced yesterday on selective blue-chip buying, as gains in betting company OPAP and Coca Cola Hellenic helped offset soft banks. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index advanced 0.59 percent to 2,511.91 points, after dipping to an intrasession low of 2,493 points. The blue-chip FTSE ATHEX 20 index firmed 0.42 percent to 1,329.35 points. Coca Cola Hellenic jumped 4.99 percent to 16.40 euros and Intralot moved ahead 4.68 percent to 4.70 euros. Banks shed 0.39 percent. Alpha Bank retreated 0.17 percent to 11.89 euros and Marfin Popular Bank ended 1.21 percent in the red at 2.45 euros. Turnover reached 195.5 million euros versus 163 million euros in the previous session.
