Index rising for a fourth session

Stocks continued their growth on the local bourse for the fourth successive session on the back of the significant gains witnessed across Europe yesterday. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index grew to 2,534.57 points yesterday, rising by 0.91 percent from Tuesday’s close. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index climbed by 0.85 percent to end at 1,340.61 points. Once again, blue chips attracted most of investors’ buying interest, while a large number of small-caps closed the day with losses. Leading blue chips were the stocks of Hellaktor (up 3.87 percent), Piraeus Bank (2.94 percent) and Coca-Cola HBC (2.13 percent). The biggest losses were for Marfin Investment Group (down 2.06 percent). Turnover reached 195 million euros, practically on a par with Tuesday’s 195.5 million euros.
