Mixed session sees index slide

Stocks on the Greek bourse had a mixed day yesterday that eventually saw the main index fall marginally and more stocks rising than those heading lower. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index declined to 2,547.47 points yesterday, falling by 0.10 percent from Wednesday’s closure. During the session, the index had risen by up to 0.97 percent, but had also dropped 0.59 percent. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index dropped by 0.23 percent to end at 1,334.55 points. Leading blue chips were the stocks of Motor Oil (up 4.57 percent), Hellenic Petroleum (3.54 percent) and EFG Eurobank (2.39 percent). Moving southward were OPAP (down 4.19 percent) and Public Power Corporation (3.64 percent). Turnover reached 237 million euros yesterday, down from about 266 million euros on Wednesday.
