Minion contract signed

Construction company Achilleus Techniki will reconstruct the former Minion department store building in central Athens in a 17-million-euro project that will take 18 months to complete, it said yesterday. Achilleus Techniki signed the agreement with Elmec Sport, owner of the Minion building. Elmec Sport, whose shares are listed on the Athens bourse, also operates the Attica department store and discount retailer Factory Outlet, with branches in Neo Faliro and next to the Athens International Airport. The reconstruction of the historic Minion building, near Omonia Square, central Athens,will create a 15,000-square-meter department store covering eight floors to be handed over to Elmec in spring of 2011, the building company said in a statement. «With the addition of the Minion contract, the order backlog of Achilleus Techniki reaches 45 million euros,» it added. The Athens-based construction company is currently involved in some 15 private sector projects in Greece and Romania.
