Help line set up for program to save energy
Homeowners interested in taking advantage of government grants to make houses more energy efficient can call a help line (801.113.6300) set up by the Development Ministry. The phone service, operating from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., provides information on the 400-million-euro EU-backed program that starts as of November. Partial funding will be offered for home improvements, such as upgrading insulation, replacing old heating systems and installing solar-powered hot water units, depending on the area where the property is located. The Development Ministry expects 100,000 households to take part in the program. Property owners who do not qualify for subsidies due to the location of their home may benefit from tax breaks to be announced soon, the ministry added.
