Stocks gain 2.2 pct for the week

Greek stocks inched higher yesterday, as moderate blue chip gains offset a minor retreat in banks. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index added 0.09 percent to 2,611.56 points, bringing gains for the week to 2.20 percent. Refinery Motor Oil jumped 2.68 percent to 11.50 euros after the company announced late on Thursday it will buy Shell’s network of 700 gas stations in Greece for 219 million euros. Power utility Public Power Corporation also outperformed, adding 3.33 percent to 15.20 euros. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index firmed 0.13 percent to 1,379.90 points. Banks dipped 0.12 percent as EFG Eurobank gave up 1.05 percent to 10.39 euros. Turnover reached 272.7 million euros versus 260 million euros in the previous session.
