Stocks start off week with gains
Greek stocks started the week off with solid gains, supported by advancing European peers, as buying in banks rubbed off on the broader market. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index gained 1.22 percent to 2,864.63 points yesterday, after touching on an intra-session high of 2,889 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index rose 1.34 percent to 1,538.08 points. Banks added 1.83 percent. Other blue chip winners included OTE telecom, which rose 2.28 percent to 12.57 euros. Coca-Cola Hellenic ended at 18.81 euros, up 1.40 percent, while refinery Motor Oil jumped 2.38 percent to 12.50 euros. Turnover reached 288.3 million euros versus 425 million in the previous serssion.
