Marginal gains in thin trade

Greek stocks ended almost unchanged yesterday in thin holiday trade with banks managing to hold on to moderate gains. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index ended up 0.02 percent at 2,208.34 points after trading in a 30-point range. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index inched 0.01 percent higher to 1,136.26 points. Bank edged up 0.18 percent. Alpha Bank advanced 1.82 percent to 8.40 euros and Hellenic Postbank added 0.68 percent to 4.47 euros. Betting and lottery company OPAP also outperformed, adding 2.12 percent to 15.43 euros, while toy retailer Jumbo jumped 3.66 percent to 8.50 euros. Turnover dipped to 54 million euros, the second-lowest level for 2009, versus 129 million in the previous session.
