PPC turns to private sector for RES projects

Public Power Corporation (PPC) is planning to make a major shift to renewable energy sources through joint projects with the private sector. Sources from the company suggested that only by employing such partnerships could the country could meet its binding targets for RES penetration by 20 percent by 2020. New PPC president Arthouros Zervos is expected to start a series of talks with all major groups involved in RES so that they can participate in the PPC projects that are already in the works. He will also discuss the company’s possible involvement in private investment plans. PPC Renewables, a subsidiary of the power company, already cooperates with private groups. Meanwhile yesterday, the alternate chief executive officer of PPC, Prodromos Efthymoglou, tendered his resignation.
