Greece featured at Brussels show

Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Angela Gerekou is seen addressing a holiday exhibition in Brussels yesterday, in which Greece is the honored country. The exhibition, Belgium’s largest gathering of tour operators, will accommodate 700 exhibitors and will run through Monday. More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition, titled Salon de Vacances. The number of tourists expected to visit Greece this year will rise by some 2 to 3 percent year-on-year, according data released by the Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasting (ITEP) earlier this week. However, travelers are seen as spending less in Greece this year than in 2009, as the crisis weighs on spending habits, ITEP added.
