Food company Vivartia posts rise in group profit for 2009

Vivartia, Greece’s biggest food company, posted a full-year profit of 27.8 million euros compared with 13.9 million euros in 2008, according to an Athens bourse filing yesterday. The company, which is present in 30 countries, said that revenues rose in the 12-month period to 1.36 billion euros from 1.34 billion in 2008, partly due to the inclusion of figures from Everest and Nonni’s. The group’s subsidiaries include fast-food chain Goody’s, frozen-food company Barba Stathis and dairy producer Delta. Its market capitalization amounted to 1.7 billion euros based on yesterday’s stock prices on the Athens bourse.
