Greek stocks advanced yesterday, recovering mildly from Wednesday’s 6 percent slide, with buying in banks helping to lift the general index to above the 1,700-point support level. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index added 0.63 percent to 1,707.35 points, after reaching an intra-session high of 1,746 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index rose 0.94 percent to close at 830.08 points. Banks advanced 1.74 percent. National Bank rose 2 percent to 10.20 euros, while Eurobank jumped 3.51 percent to 5.31 euros. Coca-Cola Hellenic, expected to unveil first-quarter results this morning, slipped 1.07 percent to 19.50 euros. Turnover reached 363.4 million euros versus 335 million in the previous session.
