Greek gambling scene draws players

At least three companies are preparing to enter Greece ahead of the planned deregulation of the betting market. Most of them are focusing on Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) and promoting their technical know-how to companies that might be awarded a VLT license. So far, two have made their formal appearance in the market: Canada’s Techlink Entertainment and Sweden’s ACE Interactive. However, the most impressive entrance will come from one of the sector’s larger players, Betfair, which is believed to be looking carefully at the Greek market for an entry point. A Greek government plan involves the issuing of VLT operating licences to private investors in a moved aimed at generating hundreds of million of euros in revenue for the state.
