Britons think Greece is more expensive than it is
Greek destinations, including the Plaka district (pictured) in central Athens, are less expensive for British tourists than they actually think, according to a survey published on the website of Skyscanner travel and flight agents. The opposite is true of Turkey, which is seen as a less expensive destination than it actually is. The survey of 1,500 Britons found that Greece is seen as the 17th most expensive destination, although Skyscanner data show that Greece is 29th on the list, even behind Cyprus. Yiannis Retsos, the president of the Athens Hoteliers’ Association, commented: ‘We have failed in communicating to our customers the real picture of our product. We do not promote the actual value-for-money relationship in Greece.’
