Ellaktor and Mytilineos boost index

Lesser blue chips Ellaktor and Mytilineos helped the main index of the Greek bourse register gains during yesterday’s session, on a day when many small-caps ended up losing ground. The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,557.21 points, expanding by 0.47 percent from last Friday’s close at 1,549.94 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index rose 0.27 percent to end at 758.80 points. The small-cap index, however, posted a decline of 0.63 percent. Ellaktor outperformed the other blue chips, gaining 7.38 percent, followed by Mytilineos (up 4 percent), Public Power Corporation (2.04 percent) and Coca-Cola HBC (1.44 percent). Jumbo was the worst off, ending with losses of 3.35 percent. Eurobank EFG dropped 1.26 percent and Alpha Bank shed 1.17 percent. The stock of National Bank was a nonmover, remaining at 8.10 euros. A total of 67 stocks headed north, 80 went down and 56 remained unchanged. Varvaressos led the gainers with a 16.67 percent rise, while Druckfarben posted the biggest losses (down 19.12 percent). Turnover came to just 81.2 million euros, down from 116 million euros in last Friday’s session.
