Blue chips lead stocks higher

Greek stocks advanced nearly 1 percent yesterday on blue chip gains, with Eurobank EFG and power company PPC outperforming. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index added 0.92 percent, ending at 1,541.02 points, after gaining 1.2 percent on Monday. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index rose 0.93 percent to end at 737.85 points. Eurobank EFG jumped 3.20 percent to 4.51 euros, while peer National firmed 1.57 percent to 7.78 euros. The banks index edged ahead 0.29 percent. PPC added 2.89 percent to 12.47 euros and construction company Ellaktor increased 4.31 percent to 3.63 euros. Turnover reached 81.6 million euros versus 101 million in the previous session.
