Stocks rise but end the week lower

Greek stocks managed to end the session in positive territory yesterday, but lost ground over the week. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index nosed ahead 0.24 percent to 1,497.20 points but shed 0.70 percent for the week overall. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index firmed 0.52 percent to end at 712.96 points, while the mid-cap FTSE/ATHEX 40 index rose 0.19 percent. Banks gained 1.39 percent. Alpha Bank added 1.32 percent to 4.61 euros and Bank of Cyprus jumped 2.52 percent to 3.25 euros. OPAP tumbled 2.30 percent 12.32 euros and power company PPC ended at 12.27 euros, off 0.89 euros. Turnover reached 77.1 million euros, versus 126 million in the previous session.
