ECB official warns against changing goals
Any changes to goals set on the memorandum Greece signed with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund would harm the country’s credibility, said European Central Bank Executive Board member Lorenzo Bini Smaghi. ‘Whatever you have won will be lost right away and at the same time trust among those that supported you will be shaken,’ he told Kathimerini in an interview. Bini Smaghi was referring to comments from Greek government and IMF officials on the possibility of Greece being given an extension to repay its 110-billion-euro rescue package.
