TANKERS Easier conditions on VLCCs and minor fresh inquiry for Suezmaxes out of W. Africa. – Aframaxes in the Med. are holding recent levels with the latest fixtures at W/S 125-130. – Cont. stable at W/S 115 -117.5 for 80,000-ton cargoes, while the Caribs market is rising with 70,000-ton cargo liftings at W/S 140. – In the Med., Erg for 80,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 9 Syria, discharging Italy, has fixed M/T «Gaetano d’Alesio» at W/S 125. – In the Cont., Exxonmobil for 55,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 8, discharging US Gulf, has fixed M/T «Marshal Bagramyan» at W/S 140. – In Caribs, Citgo for 70,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 2, discharging USAC, has fixed Teekay tonnage at W/S 132.5. – In W. Africa, Petral for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Nov. 20, discharging Indonesia, has fixed M/T «Sea Prince» at W/S 115. DRY CARGO Stable conditions for Capers, with Coeclerici having fixed M/V «Sa Fortius» for 150,000 tons of coal, loading Colombia Nov. 15-30, discharging Rotterdam, at USD 6.50 per ton with 50,000-ton load and 25,000 tons discharge. The Atlantic Panamaxes are trading in a fairly healthy environment, although the number of fixtures reported remains fairly limited. – In the Far East, the market seems stable but it needs more inquiry in order for present rates to be sustained. In the Atlantic, Worthington has fixed M/V «Banya,» 73,000 dwt, built 1996, delivery Spain end Oct., trip via Brazil, redelivery UKC, at USD 10,500 daily, while in the Far East, AP Moller with delivery Hong Kong end Oct. for two legs, redelivery Far East, has fixed M/V «Platanos,» 65,702 dwt, built 1990, at USD 8,000 daily. – On smaller sizes, Uniwell has fixed M/V «Brothers,» 25,573 dwt, built 1984, delivery end Oct. UKC, redelivery China, at USD 12,000 daily. – On coal cargoes, TKS for 130,000 tons of cargo, loading Australia Nov. 21-30, discharging Netherlands, has fixed Swiss Marine tonnage at USD 12.20 per ton with 35,000-ton load and 25,000 tons discharge.
