Fire victims submit aid requests

People affected by last week’s wildfires submit applications for financial assistance pledged by the government in the wake of the disaster, at a cultural center in the port town of Rafina, eastern Attica, Tuesday. Individuals are to receive a lump sum of 5,000 euros while businesses will be awarded 8,000 euros. The Municipality of Rafina has pledged an additional 587 euros to each fire victim. At least 92 people died and scores more were injured as they tried to flee the inferno in the seaside resort town of Mati on July 23. [ANA-MPA]
