Village evacuated in southwestern Peloponnese

The fire service on Monday ordered the precautionary evacuation of a village in the southwestern Peloponnese as it battled a wildfire in a nearby forest.
Six water-dumping aircraft, 18 trucks, 65 firefighters and dozens of volunteers and municipal crews were thrown into efforts to contain the blaze near Vassilitsi, in the Pylos-Nestor municipality in the region of Messinia.
