New Covid cases and fatalities ease after Tuesday’s spike

The number of new coronavirus infections showed an improvement on Wednesday at 10,528 compared to the previous day’s spike of 12,537, but was still in the high range compared to the start of the month, when they stood at around 3,000-4,000 a day.

The number of Covid-related fatalities in the 24-hour period also eased to nine from Tuesday’s 14, taking the overall death toll since the start of the pandemic in Greece to 30,124.

In its daily bulletin, the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) also reported that 94 Covid patients are on ventilators and hospital admissions were 26% up from Tuesday’s figure, at 169.
