Magnitude 4.5 earthquake strikes Crete

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck the southern Greek island of Crete on Wednesday. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the quake was centered 7 km northeast of Arkalochori, a small town in Iraklio region. The depth was 13.6 km. It occurred at 12.01 p.m.

Arkalochori was hit by a 5.8-magnitude tremor in September 2021, killing one person and destroying several old buildings.
