Five smugglers sentenced A Greek and four Poles have been sentenced to 10 years each in prison for smuggling 55 illegal immigrants into Greek waters from Turkey last week on a sailboat. In the Halkida court decision made public on Saturday, Haralambos Glavas, 45, and the four Poles were fined 290,000 euros each. The five abandoned the crippled Scrooge with the Asian immigrants aboard before dawn on Wednesday during a gale off eastern Evia. They took a dinghy with an outboard motor, but were caught hours later when they ran into trouble with the weather and had to call the coast guard for help.
