Calls for measures to combat hospital violence
The Panhellenic Medical Association has proposed to the Health Ministry a series of measures to combat the growing problem of violence against health personnel in Greek hospitals over the past five years.
Among these proposals is the creation of an observatory against violence, which will be legislated and jointly supervised by the ministry and the association recording incidents and establishing rules to prevent similar phenomena.
In addition, it has called for staffing of health services with permanent medical and nursing personnel to reduce the waiting times of patients, as well as the operation and staffing of organized emergency departments at all public hospitals.
Apart from the mobilization of police and filing of lawsuits by the hospital administrations against violent persons, it also proposes the introduction of emergency buttons, as well as electronic locks in clinics.
