Woman suspected of killing brother over a glass of water charged with murder
A 43-year-old woman who allegedly confessed to stabbing her brother to death after quarrelling over a glass of water was charged on Saturday with intensional manslaughter, causing dangerous bodily harm, and illegal carrying and use of a weapon.
The suspect, who police sources said suffers from an intellectual disability, as did her murdered brother, will undergo a psychiatric evaluation and testify before an investigative magistrate.
The woman has been detained since Friday, when her 46-year-old brother’s body was found in his home in the district of Nea Smyrni. A forensic exam showed he had died from stab wounds to his abdomen.
She allegedly told police the victim had asked for a glass of water and they quarreled. She then stabbed him with a kitchen knife which she then washed and put it back in its place.
