A suspicious gift received by Peristeri Mayor Andreas Pachatouridis on Wednesday was deemed harmless by authorities following an investigation.

Pachatouridis contacted the police after receiving a flower pot accompanied by an envelope containing an unidentified powder.

An explosive ordnance disposal unit, along with twelve firefighters and three vehicles, was dispatched to the Peristeri town hall in western Athens.

After examining the package, the unit confirmed it contained no explosive materials, and the envelope was sent to the National Public Health Organization (EODY) for further analysis.
