Afghan opposition deplores bombings

Afghan opposition members who have met in Cyprus over the past few days said yesterday that only Afghans could succeed in abolishing terrorism in their country. The Cyprus Meeting regards any kind of military attack upon the national territory of Afghanistan as unbearable for any Afghan, and points out that those sacrificed in such attacks are the innocent, who themselves are hostages to the cruelty and violence of terrorism, they said in a statement. Moreover, it believes that such military attacks are not an adequate measure for abolishing terrorism, Agence France-Presse quoted them saying. The Cyprus Meeting for Peace in Afghanistan consists of exiled former Afghan government officials, Northern Alliance members, tribal leaders and dissidents opposed to the ruling Taleban regime.
