According to Vassilakopoulos, the Games can only survive if Olympia is chosen as their permanent site, a suggestion which had been put forward in the past by the late Constantine Karamanlis. Vassilakopoulos sees this idea as feasible. «The institution of the Games is declining and I think that the only solution is for them to come under UN jurisdiction. The UN could then create an international fund, responsible for the construction and the maintenance of all facilities. I think that, at some point, a permanent location for the Games will be sought, in order to put an end to all the corruption which is an insult to the Olympic ideal. When justice works alongside the community in the fight against vested interests, justice is always the winner in the long run. Of course, it won’t be easy,» he stresses. He adds that Olympia must be kept as the Olympic center, meaning that the IOC president should be elected there and that the meetings held to announce which city is to host the Games should also take place at Olympia.
