A fire destroyed a new Xanthi sports hostel
A fire yesterday destroyed the hostel of a new sports complex near Xanthi where the northern town’s Skoda-Xanthi soccer team trains. The blaze caused millions of euros’ worth of damage, according to initial estimates. It is believed to have started in the chimney of the hostel within the 775-square-meter complex. No one was injured. The center, built at a cost of 12 million euros, was opened by Archbishop Christodoulos a month ago.
