Father and son arrested after Kalashnikov and crossbow found in Thessaloniki warehouse
Police in Thessaloniki have arrested a 77-year-old man and his 44-year-old son after investigators discovered a Kalashnikov rifle and a crossbow hidden in a warehouse in the suburb of Panorama.
The case file also includes a 47-year-old man – another son of the elder suspect – who is already serving a prison sentence for a drug-related conviction. His earlier arrest last September is believed to have led investigators to the hidden weapons.
During a search of a storage area near a residence used by the two arrested men, officers found Kalashnikov rifle with two magazines and 80 rounds of ammunition, a crossbow with five arrows, pepper spray and four walkie-talkies.
A subsequent search at a second home in another part of Thessaloniki yielded a small quantity of heroin and nine cannabis seeds.
Criminal charges have been filed against the two suspects, who remain in custody pending their testimony before an investigating magistrate.
