Two teenagers were arrested in Patras on Wednesday after allegedly throwing a firecracker inside a school, injuring a 12-year-old student.
The two 17-year-old suspects reportedly set off the firecracker outside a laboratory classroom, causing the child to suffer an ear injury. The student was immediately taken to the Karamanadaneio Children’s Hospital in Patras for treatment.
Authorities filed charges against the minors for violating fireworks laws, causing dangerous bodily harm, disrupting public services and damaging property.
Police said the investigation is ongoing as the school community processes the incident, which has raised concerns about student safety and access to illegal fireworks.
