H1N1 virus claims six more lives

Two more people in Greece have died from the H1N1 virus, Deputy Health Minister Michalis Timosidis said on Monday.

The total number of people in Greece who have died from the virus during the current flu season now stands at 21.

There are also 45 people who contracted the virus being treated in intensive-care units.

“We are at the peak of the outbreak,» said Timosidis. He repeated calls for the elderly, children and people with underlying illnesses to consider getting inoculated against the virus, even at this late stage.

Experts said last week that there was no need for people to panic, nor would it be necessary to shut down schools to prevent the virus from spreading.
