Robbery suspects draw interest of counterterrorism unit

Counterterrorism officers on Tuesday joined Thessaloniki police investigating two robbery suspects after the men were found to be in possession of weapons and documents resembling proclamations by leftist guerrilla groups.

The two men, aged 23 and 28, are believed to have been the perpetrators behind Monday?s raid on the office of an organization procuring supplies for the state.

A raid yesterday on the men?s homes turned up a hand grenade, a semi-automatic pistol, 36,000 euros in cash and documents containing anarchist slogans. Officers also confiscated a wireless receiver and a plastic bag full of caps and shirts, believed to have been worn during the robbery.
