Woman ‘stages’ kidnapping to run off with lover

A 26-year-old woman is in custody in Thessaloniki after allegedly telling her husband that she had been kidnapped when in fact she had run off with her lover.

According to police, the woman disappeared on January 29 and sent her husband a text message claiming she had been kidnapped and that her abductors wanted an 80,000-euro ransom.

Her 34-year-old husband informed the police who eventually tracked the woman to a property in Livadia, central Greece.

They found her there with a 30-year-old man. Officers said that the woman?s claims she had been abducted were unconvincing.

The man allegedly confessed that the pair had been lovers but that the woman had not informed him she was married or that she had told her husband that she had been kidnapped.
