Guards agree to open sites and museums on weekends
Guards at museums and archaeological sites have decided to suspend their weekend strikes over unpaid wages.
State-run museums and famous sites like the Acropolis had remained shut on weekends due to the protests.
Guards are demanding that the government pass a law ensuring that ? in contrast to other civil servants ? they are paid for working on weekends and public holidays.
The Finance Ministry has attached an amendment to a bill that has been submitted to Parliament that will make sure that the guards receive the appropriate payment.
